Title : School Bus Driver (PAID TRAINING)

Bus driver position may be coupled with a position from another department for a full day / 40 hours per week employment, if desired.

Qualifications

• Effective communication and problem solving skills.
• Ability to problem solve in a fast paced work environment
• Regular and predictable attendance
• Qualified to be employed as a School Bus Driver per Civil Service and NYS Education Department guidelines.
• Possession of a valid NYS Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with a Passenger (P) endorsement at the time of appointment, and maintenance of such license throughout the tenure of employment in the position.
• Ability to pass a qualifying physical exam
• Demonstrate good eye-hand-foot coordination, and good spatial perception to enable good judgment of distance for safe and precise passing, braking, and parking
• Ability to bend, kneel, sit, and stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities : Shall include but are not limited to the following :

• Attend meetings as needed
• Follow directives (written, oral, electronic)
• General Bus Driver assignments
• Transports pupils safely to and from school daily, according to established routes and time schedules
• Maintains proper student behavior on bus when driving
• Notifies Director of Transportation of any hazardous road, bridge, or other condition which may jeopardize the safety of children being transported to the from school
• Sweeps interior of bus daily and cleans headlights, signal lights, and tail lights
• Keeps bus windshields, windows, and rear view mirrors clean at all times
• Completes a daily record sheet including mileage and any bus malfunction
• Observes all rules, regulations, policies, and procedures regarding qualifications of bus drivers ,safe operation of buses and personal characteristics
• Other assigned duties and / or responsibilities which may be deemed appropriate by the supervisor.
• Maintain Data Security as applicable.
• Maintain confidentiality with staff, student, and family information
• Operate in a respectful, responsible manner

Reports to : Director of Transportation

Salary : As per the contract between Victor Central Schools and the CSEA Unit :

Minimum starting salary for 2023 / 2024 School Year is $21.99 / hour (Negotiable based on experience)

Minimum starting salary for 2024 / 2025 School Year is $22.54 / hour (Negotiable based on experience)
